That makes sense and it looks like PyGRUB can not access or read the /boot partition in order to get the initrd/kernel files to boot upon.

Actually what I tried now is to download the installable ISO image and install it using a Xen HVM type of guest. No problem install it and no problem either booting it after the installation with HVM. I tried converting the Xen guest config from HVM to PV but there also no way it would boot.
Anyhow as HVM on Xen it is also usable but finally I think I will not use CentOS Atomic Host. I wanted to use it for okd.io with cri-o but I was told on the openshift-users mailing list that I would be better off using CentOS instead.
So I was wondering what are people out there using CentOS Atomic Host for? I thought it was the perfect distribution for things like okd.io / cri-o and so on...
